dublin diary

Pretty much what I have been busy with this past week. Eating lots and of food and drinking coffee, and the best part is that I did all of this with my old friends. So happy I had the time to do this! I'm having a case of staycation already, but for now - back to reality!

Don't forget to follow me on instagram here!

Wednesday

skinflint

My first dinner in Dublin last week was in Crackbird, and now my goodbye dinner in Skinflint.
All too delicious!

Tuesday

tuesday

1. Rainy day Temple Bar.
2. HATS.
3. First Starbucks red cups of the season. It's definitely winter. :)

Thursday

dame street

Crackbird, 60 Dame Street / Mr. Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, 59 Dame Street

Surprised to a lovely night out when I landed in Dublin! Tried Crackbird for the very first time - finally! I've wanted to try it way back when it was still a pop-up restaurant (and when I still living here), but never got the time. Dimly lit room, drinks in jam jars, weird stools, what more do you want?

We had the chicken brochettes with lemon garlic bay-leaf, and buttermilk chicken. Then luckily enough, Mr. Simms sweet shoppe was still open and I swear we could have spent hours in there. Halloween date night at it's best. x

happy halloween, i'm off to ireland!

To make things better about being homesick, I came across this video about Dublin and their sense of style. I think every word said in this video captures the city's people. They let you have room to express your style and creativity through more ways than one, and people enjoy it.

The city I've moved to is also the same and I love everything about it, but I guess it takes time to get used to things when you've adapted to certain ways. New friends and environment is always a good thing, but I miss miss miss Dublin so much. I can't wait to visit my friends and family in Dublin next month, and also my sister in London. Do you ever go to a place where you can say, "this is my city", well I'm certain my city is Dublin and London.

Tuesday

We had a photoshoot in the Powerscourt Townhouse. Very minimalistic design of the third floor. Very clean and crisp like a chilly morning. I love.

if you're going abroad, i can't help you

Pursue the crowds at an airport. Be it international or domestic, you are certain/guaranteed to see a zoo of people. It’s quite an honest place to get a sense of a person’s character; what they’re like, at an airport. This all depends on different things. Are they the passengers who travel for leisure in jeans and a t-shirt  or are they the business type – in a suit, working away on their laptop sending away the last piece of email before they get on the plane? Are they the coffee drinkers? Or the homemade sandwich eaters?

I like the sound of the operator reminding a Mr. Peter Knapp that his plane is about to board. The the sounds of baggage wheels sliding off an escalator. The sounds of people briskly walking to reach their gate. These sounds are reminders, pleasant reminders, that everyone is getting from A to B. Either they are almost home, or soon to be somewhere new and exciting.

But the best part lies in what an airport symbolizes.  Airports are more than just a place for arrivals and departures. They are bookends. Places of new beginnings, long-awaited endings. Hellos and goodbyes. Starting in one city and only to end in another place thousands of kilometers away. Ah, but my favorite is when you close the airplane door on winter, and open it on summer - only seven hours later.

I don't think you are the same person as when you leave somewhere. I'm not entirely certain if it is good or bad, but there is a certainty that you change with each departure/arrival. Once you start, you can never truly finish. It's the way it works and I'm not complaining.

Dublin, the only country where it is possible to witness spring, summer, autumn and winter in one day.
"Wrap yourself in a thin coat and walk to your new job. Let your hands freeze and your lips burn. You like to let the cold wake you up and remind you of where you are now. You chase the train, you stare into space, you write a note, you rush to meet someone. And the more you move the closer you get to the version of yourself you’ve been chasing, you think."

Wednesday

Hahaha a Norwegian boy kept pointing at his shirt all night. Temple Bar brings out the funny.

So, the Irish winter begins. It's a different kind of cold. It gets into your bones - then you curse when you walk. That's not very nice.

Saturday

o'connell street

Stroll around O'Connell st. before college. Too cold to sit still.
