maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting

I don't think it's possible to put in words how I've been feeling in the last little while. It's a weird sensation where everything is going great, opportunities arise, you're recognized for your work and more, but at the end of the day, you still feel like you just want to crawl into bed and fall into a deep sleep. I feel painful. That's how I'm feeling right now and I know it's selfish. But I don't know how to change it.

in the process

HALLO, alles goed met je? Still in the process of fixing my new "life", if you will, up! Too many running around and so little time. Spending 200 euro on car service in the space of 48 hours and living on a pack of "Sockerfria Kakor Havre" from Ikea, because I've been too lazy to go out and socialise. Can't wait to have some free time and eat normal food, haha!

in the bag

We had a photoshoot in the Powerscourt Townhouse. Very minimalistic design of the third floor. Very clean and crisp like a chilly morning. I love.

yeah yeah yeah

Rooney Mara and a leather jacket. Monochromatic. Coffee. What more could you want? x

You're the newbie. Imagine yourself clutching a passport, and your duffel bag looks like it's about to explode at the seems because of all the over packing you've done. You over pack because you don't know what to expect, so you want to be prepared. All your clothes are brand new, carefully planning every possible scenario that could happen. Running shoes, party shoes, walking shoes, what have you. You're just eager to experience all there is and you don't want anything to spoil it.

You're the tourist. You have a list numbered accordingly. One being the first thing you need to see. You head to the big city. If you're in China, you head to the Old City. If you're in New York, you must see Times Square. London? Easy - Leicester Square. In a rush to capture all the memories in so little time. As a tourist at the beginning, you're nervous to try the food and live on 7/11. Eventually, you'll try street food and authentic cuisine because, well, you want the full experience.

You're the party-harder. You pick a hotel in Macau where the life is at. The city never sleeps. The atmosphere makes you dizzy with the bright lights and music. You love drinking with people from all over the world, just like you, and the next day - the same thing happens but never the same group of people twice.

You're the couple. You can tell that they're happy and frustrated at the same time. Travelling with other people is never easy - never really goes as smoothly - never mind being in a relationship with them. You need patience more than usual, because pretty much everything you do is together. Food, activities, decisions all have to be decided together. You normally have more than enough stories to last a dinner.

Or you can be all of the above - adjust for desired results. You can be the newbie ready to see what this new place has to offer to you. The tourist because you want to take in the culture and lifestyle. The couple because you want to share these things with someone that you like. Then, you two can be the party harders - well, because no good story every started with a salad.

You're the newbie, you're the tourist, party-harder, traveller. In the end, it's all the same. You'll have stories to share of how you got there, and what your next adventure is. You're young, live it up and meet halfway - and wear your perfectly planned outfits.

So eat Marmite and speak Chinese, while you're at it.

darjeeling limited

The Kinks - This Time Tomorrow
In some parts, it reminded me of Wes Anderson's, The Darjeeling Limited.
But you know, like, the Irish version?

Jack: What did he say?
Peter: He said the train is lost.
Jack: How can a train be lost? It's on rails.

you say shopping like it's a bad thing

Regardless of whether or not something happens the way you want it to, it was meant to happen. Your consciousness doesn't register it because you're mind is so set in the ways you planned it. So, are coincidences really coincidence if things were already planned way before you thought of it? Your answer can change at any given moment. You can agree that it is when things pan out the way your mind thought it would, but also disagree when it doesn't go your way.

I think the we all want to be given these chances on a silver plate. We want it at the right time at the right place. The world has a funny way of showing it. Normally, it's when we least expect it. Which may be the universe's way of keeping us on our toes. But don't things get boring when we know what to expect? I think we all need spontaneity and just go with what's supposed to come our way.

We're happiest when we don't think at all. The element of surprise when you least expect it is priceless. The unexpected is what I think we want even if we're stubborn about it. Sometimes we like not understanding how things happen, or why we're led this direction than the other. Just go with it, you know? Do you ever think that when you're happy with the way things go, things just get better and better? Could it be because you're thinking less and just dealing with what is now? Do what makes you happy like in the words of Nike, Just Do It, yo.

Something spontaneous - like maybe getting on a plane and surprising someone you miss - key word being "surprising" i.e. without reminding them. Finish work all on day one. Your plan is going brilliantly, you say. Then you call - the phone lines seemed to have failed both of you, or maybe they just didn't want to answer, or something. Your plan is going terribly, you say. And you're left to shop (I say shop like it's a bad thing) and get shirts you already have in your closet. But much rather coffee with them, or something. Fresh city, friendly people, just not familiar faces this time around.

I think Nike's motto fits for fitness and well-being, and not for travels and surprises.

paper scissors

I can't wait for the cold weather to kick in. Coats, coats, coats! I don't even know where I'll be for Fall but I may have just found the perfect one. And her hat. Swoon.

She told me she'd show me around the city.
